Swallow

Maria Williams-Russell

Our heads tilt back and our mouths open
          while standing in rain,
                    pubs,
                               churches,
                                          bedrooms,
recalling suckling
a passing cloud of guilt.

Maria Williams-Russell lives in Greenfield, Massachusetts with her husband and two children. Her poems have been published in Quay and in previous issues of the Pitkin Review.
