Dreams of Japan

Amy Stogner

The sun shined brightly on the blacktop.
The psychologist wrote down what he said.
Black smoke danced in circles out of the chimney.
The old woman laughed.
He mismatched the socks.
The matchmaker arranged their marriage.
He dreamed of rock gardens and Shinto shrines.
For now, the ethereal quality of light.
