Citizen science engages members of the public in research projects. These generally involve making observations and gathering data. The following links will bring you to a selection of specific projects and directories of projects. They are designed for a variety of people fron school children to college students. (To make this work a part of college-level studies, participants may need to take additional steps that involve analyzing the data and reaching conclusions.) To find projects close to your home, do a Google.com search with the name of your city, town, or state together with words like "citizen science," "air quality," "water quality," etc. For more about citizen science, see the National Science Foundation article at http://www.nsf.gov/news/special_reports/science_nation/citizenscience.jsp
