American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama was founded in 1947, and publishes The Journal of Group Psychotherapy as well as holds annual conferences. The purpose of the society include fostering the national and international cooperation of those concerned with the Training is offered throughout the country at various institutions. Amherst Writers & Artists, founded by writer Pat Schneider in 1981, offers creative writing workshops and retreats for both established and beginning writers in affiliated workshops across the around the world. Lapidus. Lapidusis a membership organization, established in 1996 in the United Kingdom to promote the use of the literary arts - that is: reading, writing and performing of poetry, prose, fiction or drama; storytelling; journal writing - for personal development. Its members include writers and poets, librarians, medical and healthcare professionals, therapists and service users, academics, teachers and those having a general interest in the field. Log Cabin Literary Center. From its home in Boise, Idaho, this center provides writers-in-the-schools programs, writers in clinical settings also, a reading series, premier summer writing camps for youth and many other resources for writers and communities. www.logcablit.org
The National Association for Drama Therapy, founded in 1979, is the systematic and intentional use of drama/theatre processes and products to achieve the therapeutic goals of symptom relief, emotional and physical integration, and personal growth. Drama therapists are trained in theatre arts, psychology, psychotherapy and drama therapy. Areas of study include improvisation, puppetry, role-playing, mask work, pantomime, theatrical production, psychodrama, developmental psychology, theories of personality, and group process. All students of drama therapy must complete supervised clinical internships with a broad range of populations. http://www.nadt.org/
The National Association for Poetry Therapy, founded in 1981, reports most of its 380 members are in the psychology, education, nursing, rehabilitation, or social work fields. NAPT focuses on the poetic power of language to bring healing, growth, transformation and empowerment. Poetry therapists work with all manner of populations – the elderly, children, people with mental or physical illnesses, people in transition of all kinds, at-risk as well as mainstream populations. NAPT sponsors Certified Poetry Therapist (CPT) and Registered Poetry Therapist (RPT) degrees, publishes a journal, and holds an annual conference. NAPT also publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Museletter, and The Journal of Poetry Therapy. The NAPT Foundation awards grants each fall to poetry therapy projects – workshop series, publications, etc. – and provides scholarships for the NAPT conference for U.S. and international poetry therapy students and professionals. The National Federation of Biblio/Poetry Therapy, founded in 1983, has a very small membership, and engages in biblio/poetry therapy, which it defines as using literature to help patients &qt;respond to an emotional impact which can then be integrated in self-awareness and self-understanding.&qt; NFBPT plans to conduct research and educational program, and it's affiliated with NAPT. The National Coalition of Creative Arts Therapists Association is a coalition of expressive arts organizations, including NAPT and NADT, plus some of the more traditional expressive arts therapies (dance, music and art therapies). Founded in 1979, NCCATA is an alliance of professional associations dedicated to the advancement of the arts as therapeutic modalities. NCCATA represents over 8000 individual members of six creative arts therapies associations. Each member association has established professional training standards including an approval and monitoring process, a code of ethics and standards of clinical practice, and a credentialing process. Annual conferences, journals, and newsletters for each association foster professional development, as well as educate the public and allied professionals about each discipline. Although unique and distinct from one another, the creative arts therapies share related processes and goals. National Intensive Journal Program started by Ira Progoff, one of the
pioneers of writing therapy, in 1977, which supplies over 100 trained and
certified leaders to conduct Intensive Journal workshops around the world. The

National Storytelling Network and International Storytelling
Network: NSN is a member driven organization that offers direct
services, publications and educational opportunities to several thousand
individuals, local storytelling guilds and associations to enhance storytelling
at all levels. It sponsors the National Storytelling Conference; StoryNet,
the NSN website, a magazine, a storytelling directory, and the annual
Tellabration. ISC is focused on the advocacy of storytelling as an art
form that brings positive change in all areas of human endeavor. ISC is building
the National Storytelling Center, a center dedicated to conserving the history
of storytelling, hosting a resource center and performance facility. NSN
also has a grants program to fund storytelling projects. National

Peace Corps Writers. A site that collects stories of Peace Corps volunteers all around the world over many decades, also great resources for writers in general. www.peacecorpswriters.org
Playback Theater Network. TheInternational Playback Theatre Network, provides connection and information for Playback practitioners on five continents Playback Theatre is used in educational, therapeutic, social change, and arts settings, either as performance, with a company of trained actors and a defined audience; or as a group event led by an individual, in which participants become actors as well as tellers for each other. Playback Theatre companies now exist in many localities, usually calling themselves after their town, such as Melbourne Playback Theatre, or Köln Playback Theatre. Playback companies now exist on five continents. The International Playback Theatre Network was founded in 1990 to support Playback activity throughout the world. Teachers & Writers Collaborative. The Teachers & Writers Collaborative was founded in 1967 by a group of writers and educators who believed that writers could make a unique contribution to the teaching of writing. A nonprofit organization, T&W provides workshops for over 30,000 students per year in the New York tri-state region and publishes an impressive catalogue of creative writing titles. T&W also sponsors an educational radio show, Everything Goes?, a free after-school spoken word program, Urban Word NYC, and a literacy initiative for teen mothers, Read to Me. www.twc.org
Transformative Language Arts concentration at Goddard College: The only TLA MA program is a low-residency concentration, part of Goddard College's Individualized MA program. TLA students in this 48-hour (four semester) program work from their home communities to further develop themselves as writers, storytellers, performers, etc. as well to establish community work based in TLA.
